I paint what makes me tingle: sweet and electric energies of people, a curious scene glimpsed in a passing moment, the way it feels to blast Kim Gordon in my headphones while staring at a gorgeous forest. You know.

My work is abstract, using palette knives, brushes, paint markers, pencils and sometimes collage to push and pull at a piece until it beams the energy I want it to beam.

Some paintings begin with something I’ve seen; others take shape as I work. Each is a glimpse into my perpetually nomadic life.

Always creative, I began exploring painting as a lifestyle in 2018 and made it my full-time practice in 2025. Before that, my path took me from skating for Rollerblade and performing with Ringling Bros. to a 25-year career in Silicon Valley tech. I now live and paint along the East Coast, working from my Airstream studio.

 

Artist Statement

My work explores the space between abstraction and recognition. Drawing from daily life, photographs, memory, and invention, I transform colorful landscapes, interesting moments, and scenes of unexpected humor or absurdity into images that are partly observed and partly imagined.

Working primarily in acrylic, I use palette knives and brushes to build layers of color, movement, and texture, introducing pencil and paint-marker lines that may remain gestural or develop into figures and fragments of a scene. 

Evolving from abstract landscapes through pure abstraction and into figurative abstraction, my paintings balance story with ambiguity. A lake may be represented by color blocks; the feeling of a small town might be represented by spray paint and drips, everyday figures may acquire animal ears. I’m interested in bringing out the particular beauty, tenderness, strangeness, or whimsy that made the image worth exploring. 

I want the finished work to feel immediate and alive, while leaving room for viewers to find their own associations within it.
